The cosmos stands accused.
It’s one thing if someone uses a wheelchair or a blind man’s cane, or has cerebral palsy. Other diseases can be just as serious, but unseen.

Psalm 150:6: “Let all things that have breath praise the Lord.”
At the homeless shelter where I stay, we’re required to attend chapel every night. Monday, for the first time in months, Jervis Ray preached. His text was Psalm 23. However, he was soon enough back to his same old same old, haranguing us that we’re not grateful enough for our “blessings.” “God woke you up in your right mind,” with the use of two arms and two legs.
He calls us to praise God that our bootstraps aren’t like others’. “There are lots of people in hospitals who don’t know where they are.”
That stung me, as my oldest brother will be soon enough in just that state.
You get what you choose, whether you want it or not.

The last straw for certain things came with a Baltimore Sun front page banner headline:
Skepticism, despair as killings continue
Residents question city response; Four day death toll stands at 12.
I anticipate no response from Julia Craven, Jenee Desmond-Harris, Ta-Nehisi Coates, Stacey Patton, or Brittney Cooper.[*]
What was the last straw?
In short, it’s time for me to stop concerning myself with racism and race.
… also known as psychopaths.
These individuals account for 1% of the general population, 25% of the prison population, and 50% of all crime. Put differently, 10% of the population commit 90% of the crime; but this one tenth of the criminals, commit five times as much crime.

I am very excited about this.
This is, as far as I know, the first study to attempt to measure the degree of chaos in the home.
The researchers in an earlier-mentioned study (Related: Poor children have smaller brains) speculated that “poor families tend to live more chaotic lives, and that stress could inhibit healthy brain development.” The current study seems to indicate that it is directly so.
As of this writing, my hypothesis has become as follows: the chaos of a growing child’s environment causes comparatively more resources to be devoted to the limbic system and less to the cerebral cortex, resulting in a body with reduced capacity to learn.

Isn’t the expression, “differently abled” — ableist?
This report provides real, hard numbers as to how much it actually costs to incarcerate someone.
It’s not a good idea.
