I wanted to document the lead-up to whatever it might be that might happen. I avoided pieces that appeared to be mere speculation or he-said-she-said. Once the war itself began, I quit; the war itself will be adequately documented.

Putin says Russian troops on Ukrainian border are coming home
They said this before, and the U.S. and NATO found no evidence that it had happened. We’ll see. But it does sound as if Russia is distancing itself — literally — from the separatists.
