The Freddie Gray demonstrations
As of Monday, 04/27/15, let me say this. We had five days of completely orderly demonstrations. Only after that did the interlopers arrive, and only after that did any trouble begin.
Everybody, I think, wants certain things. We want to find out the facts. We want appropriate prosecutions, if warranted. We want …
I’ve just read this article, which indicates interlopers were indeed allowed to address the crowd at the original gathering Saturday 2015-04-25. They said things I do not believe any native Baltimorean would have said. They had to rationalize their presence, and in my judgment, failed.
Celebrities, go home!

… if you’ve never lived here, if you’ve never worked here …
Now that Baltimore is the center of national media attention, an endless string of celebrities and celebrity-wannabes can’t wait to come here and get their share of the limelight …
… at our expense.
The emperor’s new clothes: False prophecy in the news
Here is my first audition file. The sound quality and performance aren’t the best, but I’ve chosen to post it anyway given the weight of the subject matter.
I need to show that I can speak off the cuff about current events, and an opportunity to do so came in the controversy over recent tweets by Maria Chappelle-Nadal.
A transcript appears below.

False prophets in the Bible
Working on the post “Other Jesus sayings,” which will probably appear in December, I must soon deal with Jesus saying, “A prophet is not without honor except in his own country,” etc. (Mt. 13:57, Mk. 6:4, Lk. 4:24).
Those whom I regard as false prophets today are trolls.
False prophecy and cancer
Friday, December 8, 2017
In doing research for a different post, I just now got a big surprise, from this Wikipedia article:
Type A and Type B personality theory
Many years ago, I recognized that individuals I regard as false prophets are unusually prone to die of cancer. I could provide a long list, but just now there’s no need. I developed a theory of an “irritable personality,” and supposed such a personality might rise from the same genetic bases as a tendency toward cancer.
From this article, it appears that I was right. Although it doesn’t give any detailed description of what might constitute a cancer-prone personality, it sets forth that, at least in some persons, the two are definitely linked.

Final note: Not all trolls are false prophets, but all false prophets are trolls.
Wolves in sheep’s clothing
I am at a difficult juncture.
My immediate material situation requires that, like never before in my life, I practice what I preach; care for myself; work in my own self-interest; be “here-now-can;” “keep the focus on me;” live by the Serenity Prayer. These are what I counsel any poor person to do. These are what I most emphatically now must do myself.
This entails dis-attending to all the current social turmoil.
It entails turning a deaf ear and blind eye to many messages, insistent messages, particularly coming from those who claim to have the best interests of the poor (like me) at heart.
